Hyundai Logistics Unit Accused of ‘Bait and Switch’ Visa Scheme

Auto part logistics companies Hyundai Glovis and GFA Alabama operated a “bait and switch” scheme to recruit high-skilled Mexican engineers using trade agreement visas to fill manual labor jobs, according to a proposed class action.

Mexican workers “were exploited as part of an illegal scheme for cheap labor in defendants’ warehouses,” a complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Georgia alleges.

The engineers have TN visas, which were created under the North American Free Trade Agreement to allow Canadian and Mexican workers like accountants, engineers, lawyers, and pharmacists to fill jobs in the US ...
