Case: Health Care & Benefits/Long-Term Disability Benefits (D. Ariz.)

The district of Arizona denied a Yavapai Regional Medical Center employee’s request for relief in her opening brief in this ERISA action against Lincoln National Corporation and Lincoln National Life Insurance Company, challenging the denial of long-term disability benefits coverage. The court said that the employee’s policy grants Lincoln discretion in interpretation and administration, and that Lincoln’s structural conflict of interest and alleged procedural errors didn’t constitute abuse of discretion.
