United Airlines Workers Get Partial Class Status in Vaccine Case

United Airlines Inc. employees who requested a religious accommodation to the airline’s Covid-19 vaccine mandate and were put on unpaid leave can move forward in their lawsuit as a certified class, a Texas federal judge ruled Friday.

The common legal and factual questions underlying claims of customer-facing employees put on unpaid leave is suitable for class status, Judge Mark Pittman said.

But two other proposed groups of workers suing the airline for refusing to provide medical or religious accommodations to the vaccine mandate can’t move forward as a class, the opinion said.
