TikTok, the social media app owned by <-bsp-bb-link state="{"bbHref":"bbg://securities/1439927D%20CH%20Equity","_id":"00000183-6144-db80-a39b-6d5f9c290000","_type":"0000016b-944a-dc2b-ab6b-d57ba1cc0000"}">ByteDance Ltd.-bsp-bb-link>, is banning fundraising and all other moneymaking opportunities for politicians and government accounts on the platform.
The short-video network already prohibits political ads, including any <-bsp-bb-link state="{"bbDocId":"RGS22TDWRGG0","_id":"00000183-6144-db80-a39b-6d5f9c2b0000","_type":"0000016b-944a-dc2b-ab6b-d57ba1cc0000"}">paid-for posts-bsp-bb-link> by influencers. The new policies will additionally bar requests for donations, e-commerce capabilities and accepting gifts from users. Political accounts will automatically be ineligible for making money through TikTok’s Creator Fund, according to a statement from the company’s president of global business solutions, <-bsp-person state="{"_id":"00000183-6144-db80-a39b-6d5f9c2c0000","_type":"00000160-6f41-dae1-adf0-6ff519590003"}">Blake Chandlee-bsp-person>.
