When we posted our first call for nominations for “They’ve Got Next: The 40 Under 40" in December 2020, we knew that we were on the cusp of something exciting. With excellence as our standard, we sought to feature young lawyers who took the reins on key client matters early in their careers, earning the confidence of more senior attorneys at their organizations, and raising the bar in their work on behalf of their clients and communities.
Today, we’re excited to launch the third annual edition of “They’ve Got Next: The 40 Under 40,” our Bloomberg Law award recognizing the accomplishments of stellar young lawyers nationwide.
Our team of editors and reporters evaluated an accomplished collection of nominees from an array of law firms, government agencies, nonprofits and other organizations across the country. We examined how the nominees navigated client responsibilities, how they balanced leadership roles, pro bono commitments, and more.
We are thrilled to present a sterling class, one whose members have led industry-shifting M&A deals, won high-stakes trials and provided needed counsel to government officials. Our list is also inclusive of those with a range of life experiences, cultures, and practice areas — diverse in all senses of the word.
Our 2023 They’ve Got Next: The 40 Under 40 honorees represent the best of the future of the legal profession. From appellate aces to white collar wizzes, our honorees take their place in our now storied Bloomberg Law tradition.
Read more about the 2023 class in the Q&As below. Then, take a look at the 2023 edition of our fun companion piece, “By the Numbers,” where you can learn about the most popular law schools and practice areas for the 40 Under 40—along with a selection of other fun facts. Also, in their “out of office” photos, new for 2023, you can get a glimpse of what our honorees do for fun when they’re not billing hours. And check out their summer playlists as well. (Spoiler: The Bey Hive and Swifties will feel seen.)
