Parent Sues Pearson, School Board Seeking Copyrighted Surveys

A Kentucky school board wrongly denied a parent’s request for copies of a mental health survey because a Pearson Education subsidiary owns the copyright to the screener, according to a new federal lawsuit.

Jefferson County Board of Education’s denial of Miranda Stovall’s public record request for digital copies of the survey is a misapplication of copyright law and stifles political dialogue because “she has to persuade others to believe her claims without proof,” according to the complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the Western District of Kentucky.
