Kuwait’s Suit Against Man Posing as a Lawyer Revived on Appeal

Kuwait’s Ministry of Defense can proceed with a lawsuit against a man who falsely held himself out as an attorney, then charged the ministry for legal services for one of its Washington offices, the Fourth Circuit ruled Tuesday.

The district court wrongly dismissed the suit when it found the Ministry only showed a potential loss of less than $75,000—below the amount required for a federal court to hear the case—Judge Roger L. Gregory said.
