India To Hold GST Rate Rationalization Talks in Aug., FM Says

An Indian tax panel will begin talks on rate rationalization under the Goods and Services Tax beginning August, Federal Finance Minister <-bsp-person state="{"_id":"00000190-4737-d497-a7fb-ef3fdcab0000","_type":"00000160-6f41-dae1-adf0-6ff519590003"}">Nirmala Sitharaman said Saturday.

  • The group of ministers will present a status report on GST rate rationalization in the next council meeting, Sitharaman said at a briefing in New Delhi
  • GST Council recommended a uniform rate of 12% on all milk cans
  • The government will roll out pan-India biometric authentication for GST in a phased manner, the minister said
    • “This will help us to combat fraudulent input tax credit claims made through fake invoices in the cases,” Sitharaman said ...
