DOE Picks Possible ‘National Interest’ Transmission Corridors

Electric transmission line projects in certain areas of the West, Great Plains, Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast could be deemed in the “national interest” as part of potential transmission corridors released by the Biden administration Wednesday.

The Energy Department published a preliminary list of 10 National Interest Electric Transmission Corridors that would help to accelerate development in areas that present an urgent need for expanded transmission to keep consumer rates low and the power grid stable in the face of extreme weather.
