Canadian lawmakers Wednesday passed a bill implementing over a dozen tax measures, including its digital services tax, and are closing in on approving legislation to implement the global minimum tax.
Canada’s Senate approved a bill, C-59, which enacts a 3% digital services tax on large technology companies with over 750 million euros ($803 million) in annual revenues. The House also approved C-69, a bill that includes provisions for a global minimum tax under which those same companies and other large multinationals are subject to a 15% minimum effective corporation tax.
