Transgender civil rights protections from the Biden administration are facing a legal challenge from the state of Florida, which accuses the federal government of forcing doctors to perform gender-affirming care surgery.
Filed Monday with the US District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the lawsuit accuses the Department of Health and Human Services of threatening “the livelihood of doctors who refuse to provide experimental, sterilizing, ‘gender-change’ interventions” via a recently released federal nondiscrimination rule that considers sexual orientation and gender identity as covered by civil rights protections
