Workplaces are implementing automated surveillance tools to enforce return to office (RTO) policies to the chagrin of both employees and the US Department of Labor (DOL).
Many companies that are struggling to enforce mandatory RTO are turning to various automated means of tracking their employees’ time and whereabouts. New guidance by the DOL, however, warns that some of these tools may violate employment laws, including the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
