More taxpayers are relying on mechanisms like mutual agreement procedures and advance pricing agreements in hopes of gaining certainty around how much tax they will pay, global tax officials said.
“We are seeing taxpayers increasingly opt for MAP as opposed to more traditional resolution pathways,” Rebecca Saint, deputy commissioner of the Australian Tax Office, told the Pacific Rim Tax Conference in California Thursday. Saint was part of a panel of officials representing the US, Singapore, and South Korea.
