The EEOC’s proposal to include abortion as a medical condition related to pregnancy that’s protected under the new Pregnant Workers Fairness Act is the driving force behind the vast majority of the more than 100,000 comments submitted in response.
As of noon on Oct. 13, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission posted roughly 98,500 of these comments, which were due Oct. 11. More than 96,100 mentioned abortion, according to a Bloomberg Law review of the comments posted on Regulations.gov.
